Vintage Disclaimer
At St. ELMO, we hand-select each item for quality construction, timeless style, and lasting character. Our pieces are built to be worn and used, not just displayed.
Because these pieces have lived a life before they reach you, expect gentle signs of age: fine surface wear, soft fading, small marks, or natural patina on metals. We consider this part of the charm, not a flaw. We don't sell items with damage that affects function or wearability unless it's clearly noted in the listing.
What to Expect
Patina — A natural film on brass, copper, and other metals that builds with age, adding warmth and depth.
Crazing — Fine hairline cracks in ceramic or pottery glaze. Cosmetic only, doesn't affect strength or use.
Fading — Textiles and painted surfaces soften in color over time. We won't sell anything unevenly stained, but don't expect factory-fresh color.
Clothing & Textiles
Expect minor wear typical of a garment's age: light pilling, faint discoloration, loose threads, or small marks from previous wear. We note any moth holes, stains, missing buttons, or repairs directly in the listing.
Zippers, snaps, and hooks are tested before listing, but vintage hardware can be delicate — please handle with care.
Care: Hand wash or dry clean based on fabric — check the garment's care tag when present. Many vintage textiles won't survive a washing machine or dryer, so when in doubt, wash gently by hand and lay flat to dry.
Questions
Please read each listing closely — condition notes are there to help you decide. If anything's unclear, message us first. We'd rather answer a question upfront than have you second-guess your selection from our shop.
